Operation Overseas Mardi Gras Update

by Tawney on January 26, 2010

Soldiers’ Angels Operation Overseas Mardi Gras was a HUGE SUCCESS this year!  We have  met our goal of sending 1,500 care packages to our  deployed service members from Louisiana!!!    This support is a  phenomenal effort for our deployed heroes and an amazing testament of your patriotism!

Around 3000 soldiers from the Louisiana National Guard, the 256th Infantry Brigade that  just mobilized to Camp Shelby MS and are headed to Iraq for a yearlong deployment.  We want to send these heroes some Mardi Gras cheer so they won’t miss out!  It’s bad enough they are having to  miss out on the Saints games!  CAN YOU IMAGINE MISSING MARDI GRAS??

We have established drop- off locations in New Orleans,  Lake Charles and Lafayette.  If you do not live near these areas, we can provide you a mailing address.  All items collected can be dropped off and Soldiers’ Angels will take care of delivering the items to them.

Items needed:

Costumes (does not have to be a full costume),  beads,  hats, masks,  anything traditionally thrown from a float.

Louisiana inspired foods:  pecan pralines,  king cakes with no filling,  red beans and rice (mix),  Jambalaya mix,  community coffee,   zapp’s potato chips, etc.

Please have  items in boxes or containers, when dropped off,  so they will stack and transport easily.

ITEMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF NOT IN A BOX

Deadline:

Deadline for drop off is February 1, 2010.  This will  allow time to deliver to the 256

For drop off address,  please email MardiGras@soldiersangels.org

God bless and GEAUX SAINTS

Something is wrong with the font on your website, it is so incredibly small you can not read anything. I had to copy and paste the type into word just so I could read the article – great premise, but unfortunately I don’t think very many people witll go through the trouble I did to copy and paste your entire website just so they could read it.
