So you see the widget in the right sidebar? It is to raise money for the 4th ID in Iraq. This Batallion includes a Lacombe, LA soldier, SPC Erik Dupuy. His mom, Beverly (an Angel) wanted to do a little something for her son and the almost 1,000 men and women he resides with during his deployment.
His Chaplain, CPT Pratel, said they would like to start a “coffee house” from scratch! So, Louisiana is going to help them! If you can’t make the drive and would like to donate, your contributions will help cover shipping costs and purchasing additional items for the drive. Your money WILL go towards this very cause!
Items we are looking for: coffee, tea, cappucino machines, tea brewing items, aluminum mugs, biscotti, board games, DVDs (they have a TV), a sign that says Big Easy Cafe’ and anything you think will make the cafe’ successful and comfortable! They also need ATT Global pre-paid calling cards (never enough of those to go around).

Greta, Y’all can’t get Community Coffee and Luzianne Tea to pony up some free stuff? Seems they should be able to manage that much since the idea originates from Louisiana and it’s for soldiers. I’ve looked up contact info for them.

Lots of soft drink/beer distributors will make signs for you – banner style – at no cost. Check with one that is local. I bet they would donate a sign.
