Time to put all those extra beads etc… to use for a good cause besides attic space. Not only am I an Angel, but I am a professional organizer, I demand you get rid of your old beads before the parades start in 2008!
This is one of the the simplest ways you can support the troops – ever! We are supporting Louisiana units so they can have a parade and/or just get a piece of Louisiana spirit. Other units who need a morale booster are starting to hear about this and are also requesting packages. This is the first year that Soldiers’ Angels has sponsored this campaign and we hope it will be one that will continue growing while becoming a household name through the years. $8.95 (the cost of shipping one box) can make a lot of people happy and at the same time you are cleaning out your attic! You can include items such as masks, stuffed animals, spices for throws, anything to decorate their vehicle…use your imagination. Most likely, in true Mardi Gras & soldiers spirit, much of this stuff will end up making local little kids happy as they will ultimately end up receiving many of the goodies when the festivities are over!
TO SEND A PACKAGE
1. Go to the Post Office lobby or (some Rouse’s) and pick up some flat rate boxes (FREE) this size or this one,
and A Both sizes will cost $8.95 to ship no matter how heavy. The larger size will fit a King Cake. You can even order them to your door if you have time.
2. While at the Post Office, also grab a few customs forms (again free)PO/Custom forms.
3. Stuff your box with throws, masks, tinsels, King Cakes etc… Here are some of the USPS FAQ about mailing to our troops.The package can be heavy but must NOT bulk out!
4. Come up with the shipping costs on your own. $8.95 per package
5. e-mail or call me gretaperry@gmail.com or (985)807-4805 and after we review your package, I will supply you with an address that is only to be used by you. Please do not use the address again or share with anyone else. Please shred it and throw it away.
6. Seal up your package and fill out your customs form
7. Write “Operation Overseas Mardi Gras” on your package
8. Head to the the Post Office in person to mail out your box (required).
